WHAT YANKEE SAID… IT CAIN’T BE DONE - BUD?

The above 1996 Buell S3T Thunderbolt came in on the back of a bakkie after the owner and his wife had the misfortune of the belt snapping while they were out on a run. The solution was to convert the belt drive to a more reliable and far less costly (R3000-00 it total) chain & sprocket drive. Chain-Tech Motorcycles who are the trend setters in custom conversions and suppliers of any custom front and rear sprockets & chains for any application not limited to the biking industry, had the sprockets custom engineered right here in Johannesburg and finished off the conversion with a standard fitting DID Gold X-Ring chain and that’s it, done and dusted.

As we all know, so far as the availability of parts for older bikes as well as customizing them is concerned, the South Africa market is as diverse as the various ethnic languages we have and it takes people with vision and a strong will to “ Maak ’n plan boet! ” in order to avoid the tribulations of having to wait for months from an overseas supplier to hopefully supply the right parts at a reasonable price or face the sentiment that you often get from local sources that… It can’t be done!
